How do you spend the winter on the Costa del Sol and what opportunities does the region offer in the colder months. Snow, Sun, nature, peace, sport, art and culture are abundant in large numbers. Snow is a rare thing on the Costa del Sol and the winter is not for everyone, because there is missing Rain, Storms and Frost. The winter on the Costa del Sol, however, offers opportunities often to leave your Apartment or Villa because of the few rainy days leaving you little time for frustration. For those who are missing a White Christmas only two hours drive away is Sierra Nevada, a skiers paradise. It offers skiing, snowboarding or just a walk in the snow and enjoy the view. On a very clear day you can see Gibraltar or to the coast of Morocco as you are nearly 4,000 meters above sea level. Sierra Nevada is Europe´s most southern and highest ski area. There are a total of 115 pistes with various difficulty levels, a large variety of hotels or accommodation, but you have to book early, typical Spanish nightlife and excellent restaurants. The Costa del Sol is one of the few areas or regions of the world where it is feasible in one day to swim comfortably in the Mediterranean and to complete a downhill run in the snow. Altogether there are around 60 kilometers of navigatable slopes, if you dont like the slopes, there are other alternatives such as snowshoe walks or rides in a carriage, and of course for the kids ski schools and ice rinks. webcam Sierra Nevada
