 Climate

Andalucía has an excellent climate for holidaymakers and residents who like guaranteed sunshine all year round. Spring and autumn are lovely seasons - midday temperatures are around 30ºC. In July and August the temperature regularly reaches 40ºc and often more inland. Even in December and January coastal temperatures can reach 20 to 25º.

Coastal Climate

The Mediterranean coastline is suitable for beach holidays nearly all year round. The water is warm and safe and on the whole the weather is dry on the Costa del Sol. However, be aware that it does rain sometimes in winter and the Atlantic coastline of Cádiz and around can be very wet.

The climate is the one thing that brings people  to the Costa del Sol, and make  them to stay ! Mild throughout the year, the area enjoys over 300 days of sunshine per year in Andalucia. Hot and dry during the summer months, spring and autumn seasons are usually very enjoyable. Even the traditional winter months can see temperature of 20-25 degrees. The wettest months tend to be March and April. Once Easter has been and gone, the rain tends mostly  not to return until the month of October o November.

In spring a strong wind called the Levante blows on many days between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic because of the temperature difference. Some years this is quite mild but if the Levante blows hard it can make a day on the beach practically impossible because of the sand being blown up. This particularly affects the coast of Almería in the months of March and April.

Inland Climate

Temperatures inland are much higher than on the coast particularly in summer in Andalucia. The provinces of Seville, Jaen and Córdoba have occasionally been known to reach 50ºC at midday in July and temperatures in the mid 40ºs are common. Night time temperatures rarely drop then below 30ºC. The winter months are ideal for exploring  the Sierra Nevada.
